Reddcoin Weekly Development Update
Welcome again Reddheads to another weekly update of Reddcoin Development.
The highlight of this last week if you missed it was the launch of the new Reddcoin Core v2.0 wallet, re-written and based off of Bitcoin.
This was released publicly on 13th August 2016 AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time). If you would like to get yourself a copy, the official download location is from Github
Looking to the future:
Both these projects are interesting as they build on existing blockchain stacks (Bitcoin), rather than to go off and invent another blockchain.
Of particular interest is Blockstack, whom I have been following since the very early stages of their development in 2014. Essentially a decentralised DNS and storage. Applications like this that extend the usability and functionality of a blockchain in new ways.
I also quite like the concept of Yoursnetwork for their own take on providing a micro-channel payment platform for content creators and curators.
If you havent already, you should take a look at both these projects
Things that are on my radar for the coming months.
With the new wallet operating exceptionally, these are the things that are now occupying my activities.
- Implementation of Redd-id
- Tipping platform
- Investigate PoSV2
- Add improvements to Reddcoin Core wallet
- Browser Wallet
New v2.0 Wallet in service
The new wallet has been in service for nearly 5 days now, and there has been a good uptake by users.
The SuperMajority for the implementation of BIP66 is progressing well. In the last 7200 blocks (Version 3 = 4561 Version 4 = 2640 SuperMajority = 57.882).
There has also been some good constructive feedback as the wallet has entered the public domain.
I have fixed a couple of items in the master branch on Github (instructions on how to add URI support on Debian, and merged a pull request for a compilation issue in rpcrawtransaction.cpp from Sjolus)
Using the rest of this week for monitoring the progress…
This last week I have been spending some time in the chat forums (QQ) in China. Helping where needed. I have had some great talks with the guys and girls there, and I am excited for future developments in this region. There is an interest
If your interested in c++, js or python drop me a line, I have some interesting projects that need attention.
We are a global community, and cross many borders but boundaries do not need to hinder us.
The crypto currency world has not reached its tipping point yet, but when it does, it is sure to escalate at an amazing rate. There are going to be many ups and downs, and an interesting ride for sure.
If you would like to get involved and dont know where to start, reach out and we will see where you can jump in @Deadpool has a great Trello site going with activities that need looking at.
Thank you for your patience.
I know in this arena things projects move fast, but I am confident that we now have a platform to move forward.
There are lots of exciting projects out there, but none quite touch on the ideas I have in mind.
As always, there is still plenty to do, and there is no time for resting.
So where ever you are, enjoy your week ahead
Keep on staking!
